Implants: A Permanent, Aesthetic Solution for Missing Teeth

An implant is an artificial tooth root placed in the jawbone to restore the function and appearance of a missing tooth. Usually made from biocompatible titanium, it is topped with a porcelain or zirconium crown to achieve a natural tooth appearance.

Key advantages of implant treatment include a natural appearance that is nearly indistinguishable from real teeth, lifelong use with proper care, and the elimination of the shifting and discomfort associated with removable dentures. Implants also help prevent bone loss in the jaw and, unlike bridges, do not require reshaping healthy neighboring teeth.

The treatment is suitable for people who have lost one or more teeth, have a healthy jawbone structure, and have a general health status compatible with implant surgery.

The process begins with a detailed examination using X-rays and 3D imaging. The implant is then placed in the jawbone under local anesthesia, and a healing period of about two to three months (osseointegration) follows for it to fuse with the bone. After this, a porcelain or zirconium crown is attached, and the treatment is completed with regular check-ups.

Avoiding hot food in the first days after surgery, maintaining good oral hygiene, and limiting smoking and alcohol support the healing process. Regular dental check-ups are also important for treatment success.

The procedure is performed painlessly under local anesthesia, and any mild pain afterward resolves quickly. With proper care and regular check-ups, implants can be used trouble-free for many years.
