What Is a Dental Implant?

Implants are among the most searched topics for people who have lost teeth. Also known as screw-in teeth, implants offer a functional solution for replacing missing teeth. While the procedure follows certain standards, every application is tailored to the individual.

The treatment process starts with an assessment of the patient's bone structure, hygiene habits, and general health, followed by a radiological exam to determine the implant's size. The titanium implant, custom-made for the patient, is placed in the jawbone under local anesthesia. After healing, abutments are attached and a crown made of zirconium or other materials is fitted.

Although implant treatment takes longer than many other dental procedures, the result is a tooth the patient can use as comfortably as a natural one, fully resolving the problems caused by tooth loss. Unlike a bridge, it does not require reshaping healthy neighboring teeth.

Thanks to titanium's durability and biocompatibility, implants are well tolerated by the body. In cases where the jawbone isn't strong enough, a bone graft may be applied; mini implants may be preferred for older patients or those wishing to avoid graft costs or surgical trauma.

Stitchless implant procedures, now increasingly common, allow patients to get their new tooth in a shorter time with a lower risk of complications.

Treatment cost is determined by the patient's general health, the type of crown used, whether additional procedures like bone grafting are needed, and the implant technique used. Implant brands from various countries are used in clinics across Turkey.
