What Is Clear Aligner (Invisalign) Treatment?

Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment method that uses a series of custom-made, removable clear aligners instead of metal wires and brackets to straighten teeth. It offers many practical and aesthetic advantages over traditional braces.

Its biggest advantage is aesthetic invisibility — the clear aligners keep the treatment discreet in social and professional settings. Being removable also gives patients freedom to eat normally, and aligners can be taken out for brushing and flossing, enabling maximum oral hygiene.

Issues caused by metal wires, such as pain and irritation, are minimized with this method. Additionally, digital simulation (ClinCheck) before treatment begins lets patients see a 3D preview of how their teeth will look at the end of treatment.

The process starts with a digital scan to create a 3D model, after which the stages of tooth movement are planned on computer. The patient switches to a new aligner set every 1-2 weeks, and total treatment time varies with case complexity.

Invisalign can also successfully treat complex issues like crowding, gaps between teeth, and bite misalignments. However, much of the success depends on patient discipline: wearing the aligners at least 20-22 hours a day is the golden rule for completing treatment on schedule.
